About Marie

Marie is an experienced therapist who specializes in treating PTSD and complex trauma. Have you felt like other therapists didn’t really listen to you? Marie understands that not everyone gets better one way. She wants to make therapy a collaborative process to figure out the right way for you to get better. She practices Brainspotting, Lifespan Integration, CBT, DBT, Person-centered therapy, and Attachment-based therapy, because she knows effective therapy is about integrating many approaches to help you find the real you.

Have you found yourself talking around anxiety, depression, a shadowy secret self-image in therapy without getting to the root of your trauma? Even if you have “failed” at therapy many times, please give Marie a chance to try something different. She won’t ignore the scary parts of you and your history that you need to face. Good therapy is about more than feeling better in the therapy room. Marie wants to help you face trauma in the mind, body, and soul. Facing trauma honestly means making room for the unique spirituality that can transform your life.

Marie has served in multiple roles during her career as a social worker. She has served as a Family Advocate for a local nonprofit, a group, individual, and family therapist for a residential substance use treatment center, and as the Lead Therapist for a local outpatient substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment center.

Marie was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. She obtained a BS in Social Work from the University of Montevallo and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Samford University. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a board-certified supervisor for fellow social workers pursuing their independent clinical license. Marie is also a Level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP-II), a Brainspotting Phase 2 trained clinician, and a Level 2 Lifespan Integration trained clinician. She utilizes her training to assess and treat mental health issues related to trauma and PTSD.

Marie specializes in helping adults come to understand and overcome the source of their mental health symptoms. She believes the therapeutic relationship is the key to effective healing. Marie utilizes empathy and compassion to help create a safe and comfortable space for people to find freedom from suffering. She also believes in treating the whole person and enjoys incorporating spirituality to support client progress.

In her personal life, Marie likes to spend time outdoors doing things like hiking, kayaking, and laying by the pool, and she has fun trying her hand at baking on occasion. Marie values spending time with her husband and friends. Marie and her husband like to think of themselves as “foodies,” as one of their favorite pastimes is trying new and different restaurants. Marie is also the loving parent of two dogs and enjoys spending time with them.
