Understanding Your Nervous System
Standard therapy (CBT) works with the "upstairs brain" (logic). But trauma lives in the "downstairs brain" (survival). We treat clients stuck in these states:
Common Dysregulation States
- Fight/Flight (Sympathetic): Racing thoughts, anxiety, anger, inability to sit still.
- Freeze (Dorsal Vagal): Numbness, depression, chronic fatigue, dissociation.
- Fawn: Chronic people-pleasing and loss of self to stay safe.
